How does it work?
Obtain another person’s cell phone contract in only five steps:
STEP 1
On the stoptoncell.ca site, the first leaseholder posts the description and details of the cell phone contract he/she wants to end before its expiry date.
STEP2
The potential leaseholder shops on the stoptoncell.ca site in order to find the lease that interests him/her.
STEP 3
The potential leaseholder gets in touch with the first owner via the stoptoncell.ca site, and they agree on payments in order to transfer the cell phone contract.
STEP 4
The present leaseholder calls his/her service provider (Bell, Telus, Rogers) and asks the service provider to initiate a transfer of the cell phone contract. You will have to provide the name of the new person as well as the person’s phone number. The representative of the service provider will wait for a call from the new potential leaseholder or will hold a videoconference immediately with the new potential leaseholder. The new potential leaseholder will have to provide two pieces of identity and will have to wait for credit approval from the company. Costs varying from $0 to $25 (and sometimes more) will be required to cover administrative fees. Please note that everything takes place over the phone. No one has to go anywhere. We suggest checking with the cell phone company to make sure that no new standards have been put in place in order to avoid surprises. However, please note that in general these procedures are very simple and standard for cell phone companies.
STEP 5
The cell phone contract is now completed and you can return to whatever you were doing.
